How to Upload Your Show onto Mixcloud

Some important things to know first:

What’s Mixcloud?

Mixcloud is a website where anyone can catalogue and share audio files, for free.

Why should I upload my show onto a Mixcloud playlist?

So that the Vancouver Co-Op webpage for your show has an easily accessible, easy-to-navigate playlist of episodes for your listeners to enjoy (because, let’s be real.   The archives are not the nicest to navigate).

STEP 1 – GET YOUR FILE.

The file containing the episode of the show that you uploaded onto the WordPress website

STEP 2 – GET ONTO MIXCLOUD.

Click this link, or type https://www.mixcloud.com into your browser.

Click “Login” on the top right of the webpage.

The USERNAME is: Ask Technical Coordinator for CFRO's mixcloud username

The PASSWORD is: Ask Technical Coordinator for the password

So far, so good!

STEP 3 – UPLOAD YOUR FILE.

You’ll click “Upload” on the top right of the webpage, now that you’ve logged in.

Click the big, salmon-coloured button that says “Choose a file”.

Then, find your file.

It’ll ask you to name your file.  You can call it [YOUR SHOW TITLE] – [MONTH DAY, YEAR].

Hit the “Confirm name” button that shows up.

STEP 4 – UPLOAD IMAGE/OTHER INFORMATION

Click “Change Image”, and upload the image for your show.

In the “Primary Tag” drop-down menu, scroll through and try to find a tag that best describes the content of your show.  If the tags don’t fit, just select “Other”.

You can type in other tags in the “Add a tag” window, if you’d like.

For the “description”, you don’t need to put anything down.  I like to copy & paste the description from the Co-Op Radio webpage for the show.

Scroll waaaaay down to the bottom and hit the green “Publish” button.

STEP 5 – PLAYLIST

This is an important step!

Click the musical note with the plus (+) sign.

Scroll through the list until you find the title of your show.

Click the title of your show.  It’ll be on the list somewhere, I promise.

You can check if it worked by clicking the musical note with the plus sign again, and there should be a checkmark beside the title of your show.

STEP 6 – CLICKING AND DRAGGING.

Alright!   So, your new episode is uploaded and put onto a playlist.  Fantastic!

But, we want the most recent upload to display on your Vancouver Co-Op Radio website.  So there’s one little thing you gotta do.

First, make sure you’re on the Vancouver Co-Op Radio profile.  It should take you there automatically once your episode is uploaded.

From there, find your show’s playlist, and click on it.

Click the “Edit” button.

Once you’re in the ‘edit’ screen, it’s as easy as clicking and dragging!

Click on your most recent upload, and drag it to the top. ?

You’ll see a green checkmark appear on the top right when your changes are saved.  Hit “Back to Playlist” and you’re all done!

Whichever upload has the number in front of it will be displayed on the Mixcloud player on your webpage.

STEP 7 – CELEBRATE, BECAUSE YOU DID IT!

See?  That wasn’t so hard.  If you remember to do this every time you upload your show onto WordPress, then your show’s webpage on Vancouver Co-Op Radio’s website will automatically keep up to date with all your weekly uploads.
