Being new to the board and programming committee I'm curious what the length of a show should be and what elements should be included. That is; NCTR asks for us to submit shows for sydication that are 58 minutes for a one hour show and 28 minutes for a 30 minute show. Does the stations automation software insert ID's, promos and other elements or must we insert them ourselves? If so, how many of each; how many PSA's each hour, station ID's and promos. Thanks in advance for your help,

Hey Don,

Audio tracks are inserted by the automation system to fill in any remaining time.

Co-op radio used to request three minutes for shows that were broadcast live from the station so that the following show could prepare to go on air. (At the moment, programmers who are hosting live shows at the station can stay until the automated event begins to play the following show, unless the programmer for the following show is present to host their show at the station.)

I believe the two minutes is a decent precaution for shows that are pre-recorded to avoid any interruptions. Also, for remotely produced live programmers, they could maintain their live connection until the automated event for the next show disconnect them.

Regards,
